Advertising Companies

There is a lot of speculation about which advertising company is best, so i thought i'd publish my findings here:

Mobclix
Ease of implementation
- We had a bit of trouble implementing this in our apps, mainly because all the user guides seem to be designed for the iphone... Which meant it really was tricky to work out all the things to add to the manifest, which we eventually discovered through countless google searches. But we got there, and it certainly would be simple to implement with instructions.
Money
- The money is quite decent for Mobclix, we found it to be much in line with all the other ad providers. Lots of people on the internet have been complaining about never getting paid from Mobclix though, which seems a bit worrying...
Analytics and Ease of Use
- The Analytics don't update for a few days, and they certainly aren't bad Analytics, it's just not the lightning-fast service you can get from other ad providers. The site seems to be clearly designed for iphones, such as when clicking on the services tab it immediately selects iphone. We've also had some advertising services pending for weeks now... the site really doesn't look professional or easy to use.

Adwhirl
Ease of implementation
- After fumbling around implementing this for several hours, we finally gave up after all the ads shown on our hdpi device were all wierd shapes and sizes, but it worked on our lower res devices - it didn't seem to be implemented all that well, and we certainly couldn't release it knowing it wouldn't work on half of devices.
Money
- The idea here is that there would be a 100% fill rate, so the money here should (in theory) be the best out of any other companies. We haven't had a chance to test this, but i'd expect the money to be quite decent.
Analytics and Ease of Use
- The Analytics were fairly instant to update when we got them working, and the site was easy to navigate around... it was very easy to choose between the different ad providers, which meant that you could change which ad providers to use on the cloud when the app had already been released, which seemed very handy (provided you had all the packages installed)

Admob
Ease of implementation
- Admob is, in our case, by far the easiest to implement. It provides you with a simple and easy to follow setup guide, so it really couldn't be simpler! Plus you can login with your Google account, so you definitely won't forget your password! Perfect!
Money
- People have been saying this has very bad fill rate, and this has certainly been the case in the past. However, with the latest integration of Adsense into Admob, Our fill rate has rocketed up! This will of course lead to double the revenue, making Admob a very good choice.
Analytics and Ease of Use
- The Analytics for Admob are quite detailed, giving info about eCPM, fill rate, etc for every day for every app, in a simple, easy to navigate fashion. It also contains Geo stats, to find out where in the world people are clicking.

I definitely prefer Admob, due to its fantastic ease of use and ability to integrate, but I'd consider giving AdWhirl another go, as that did look promising, it was just difficult to implement. Mobclix lacked professionalism in my opinion, and I found the website difficult to navigate compared to the others.
